Abstract: DANIEL ARAP MOI: DOMESTIC DETERMINANTS OF FOREIGN POLICY DECISION MAKING IN KENYA This book is mainly for use by university students, researchers, academicians, policy makers, media and communication specialists and Africanists interested in Kenya's foreign relations. The book considers the influence of Moi's early life, his Christian missionary education, domestic politics, Cold War geopolitical realities in the formation of his world view and foreign policy decision making. Moi served as Vice-President from 1967 to 1978 succeeding, President Jomo Kenyatta to a Presidency that lasted from 1978-2002. Moi represented Kenya in many bilateral and multilateral engagements. Moi made a mark in the United Nations General Assembly, the Commonwealth, Organization of African Union (OAU/AU). He reached out to the countries of the East and in particular China. He hosted many intra and inter-State reconciliations as a Pan - Africanist and championed the creation of Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Africa Union (AU) and played a key role in regional peace, security, and stability on the continent. AUTHORS' PROFILE Martin Kurgat is an assistant lecturer of Media, Journalism and Communication in the Department of Publishing, Journalism and Communication Studies at the School of Information of Sciences Moi University, Eldoret-Kenya. He is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in communication studies. He is an holder of Masters of Arts (MA) Degree in Journalism-Print Media from the Belarussian State University, Belarus and a Diploma in Education from the Minsk Institute of Foreign Languanges (Russian and French). He has research interests in Media and Conflict Management. He has trained in Media Management from Uganda Management Institute (UMI) and Diplomacy from Foreign Service Institute (FSI) at Kenya Institute of Administration (KIA). Mr. Kurgat has decades experience in Civil Service: worked as an Information Officer with the Presidential Press Unit and worked as Public Relations Officer with the NGOs Co-Ordination Board and as a Third Secretary with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Amb. Dr. Paul Kibiwott Kurgat is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of History, Political Science and Public Administration at Moi University, Eldoret. Dr. Kurgat is an expert in issues of Diplomacy and International relations. He is a holder of a Doctorate in Diplomatic History from Moi University, MA Degree from the Ukrainian Institute of International Relations, Kiev State University and a holder of Post-Graduate Diplomas in Conflict & Conflict Resolution and Peace & Security Studies both from Uppsala University, Uppsala Sweden. Dr. Kurgat is proficient in Kiswahili, English, Russian and German languages. Dr. Kurgat served as a Kenya's Ambassador to the Russian Federation and accredited to the Republics of Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan (2010-2015). He also served at the rank of High Commissioner as Deputy Head of Mission to Malaysia and accredited to Indonesia and Philippines (2020-2022).
