Abstract: | Regional Climate Models (RCMs) are nested with General Circulation Models (GCM) to provide finer detail of climate change projections by “dynamically downscaling” the meteorological information of the GCMs from the global to the regional scale. The presentation provides a detailed comparison of GCM and RCM output for Kenya’s major rainfall season. With the PRECIS aaplication (Providing REgional Climates for Impacts Studies) to allow for regional climate modeling, GCM can provide grid-scale averages of spatio-temporal hydro-climatic state variables. Based on the climate modeling results, future climate patterns in Kenya can be predicted. |
