Abstract: Science and technology are embedded in the everyday experiences of contemporary living. As such, societies are increasingly finding it important to incorporate scientific facts in decision-making processes on topical issues such as nutrition, healthy living and climate change, among others. However, effective communication of science is a complex endeavour that re-quires skill. In essence, it requires specific adaptations of communication to specific audiences with differing circumstances (National Academy of Sciences, 2017)
