dc.description.abstractDespite the fact that the Government of Kenya has established various policies and strategic measures to improve maternal health, maternal mortality has remained high. This study employed content analysis of secondary data drawn from official government documents and other literature sources relevant to the study. It was found that Kenya has made great strides in the health sector, with specific policy actions and strategies to promote maternal health. However, due to various challenges experienced, these are yet to translate into actual reduction in maternal deaths. The study concludes that Kenya is yet to realize MDG 5en_US
