Abstract: The importance of a national information policy to a developing country is explained and the factors hindering its development in Kenya are discussed. These factors relate to poor recognition of the importance of information, funding shortages, weak infrastructure, lack of qualified manpower, information illiteracy and lack of commitment within the information profession.
